Close Friend Tribute Challenge:
Close Friend’s name: Betsy
How we became friends: In elementary school I just had a feeling that I should go over and talk to her without knowing who she was or anything about her. I’ve always thought that Betsy’s an impressive person.
Why we’ve stayed friends: Betsy’s an extraordinary person and I still enjoy spending time with her.
My Close Friend’s best qualities: Selflessness, Kindness, Humor
Friendship Highlight: It’d be very difficult to pick just one highlight, but our friendship has definitely been one of the main highlights of my life.
Why my Close Friend is like family: Betsy’s always gone out of her way to be kind to me. Spending time with her makes me want to be a better person and she’s been a very supportive friend to me even on my worst days.
Do you think you will be best friends forever? I’m planning to be best friends forever with Betsy and I do hope that we’ll always be close friends.

A few of my friends invited me to spend time celebrating Independence Day with them and their families. It was a fun evening and it was also a good reminder of how blessed I am to have friends that have become like family to me over the years. I’m grateful for the freedoms that I have living in America.

I volunteered as a corner volunteer for the Star Valley Half Marathon on the 11th. I’d never taken the time to watch the Star Valley Half Marathon before and it turned out to be a fun experience for me. I especially enjoyed being able to spend time with a few of my friends again that I hadn’t seen for several years. Sometimes I feel like I’m not very useful or helpful to anyone anymore and get depressed. So it was good for me to feel needed and appreciated as a volunteer.

My Dad’s uncle and aunt, Dee and Donna Harrison, came to visit and to attend the Harrison Reunion on the 24th and 25th. My stepmom’s cousin’s daughter also came for a visit on the 23rd and 24th.

Natalie Ruth Hope, my second niece, was born on July 29th at 8:14AM. She weighs 5 lbs, 12 ounces and is 19 inches long. I’m very happy for my sister and brother-in-law. I’m also very grateful for the opportunity that I have to be an uncle of two nieces now. It’s been fun to watch my oldest niece, Melanie, learn and grow since she was born in 2013. I’m looking forward to spending time with Melanie and Natalie and hope that I can be a positive influence in their lives.
